Walking is the most prized activity in our region, whether by its residents or its tourists.
Our natural and cultural heritage contributes largely to this. All the tourist offices have created a network of walking and mountain biking trails.
Over the years, their maintenance has become difficult due to less financial means and fewer volunteers.
The number of hikers is increasing and their requests are varied: trails suitable for prams, theme hikes, long-distance trails, hikes of several days…

Thanks to the European programme Leader+, the districts of Durbuy, Hotton, Rendeux and La Roche have united to carry out projects that could otherwise not be developed in one district alone.
The Mid-Ourthe Local Action Group (“Groupe d'Action Locale Ourthe moyenne” or “GAL”) was created. The Hiking Centre project is part of it.

This project, supported by the District Tourist Office of Durbuy (“Office communal du tourisme” or “OCTD”), aims to improve the management of the trails and propose new activities to reinforce the current ones and to try to respond to new requests.
Projects underway: a large loop around the Ourthe River, baggage-carry for a small surcharge, a group fee for the park and garden visit, the promotion of hiking in general.
