Lots of mud ! Print E-mail

Our region boasts a wide variety of landscapes shaped by water and wind.
The hiking trails will lead you to exceptional lookout points and secluded places where time seems to have stopped.
Our sub-soil influences the state of our trails. Your hiking equipment may therefore need to be adapted depending on their composition.
The Famenne region, with its clay and slate sub-soil, and rich typical flora, requires good walking shoes: its impermeable soil remains muddy for a long time. Boots should be worn during periods of abundant rainfall.
Walking on the Ourthe plain requires good shoes as the silt layer is thick and sometimes gorged with water.
The Ardennes, made up of slate and sandstone, have trails that are generally dryer, but also much more steep. Don’t neglect the comfort of your feet and ankles!
If you enjoy forest walks, please keep in mind that logging is a source of revenue. Logging causes temporary damage to trails, and in rainy weather they can be very difficult to use. The starting point, as well as the level of difficulty and current works that require good equipment, is indicated for each trail listed on the website.
From October to December, certain trails are closed off for hunting.
Consult the general info section.
If you encounter this red sign along a path, this indicates it is closed and dangerous to use.
